The two reissues from Analogue Productions sound marvelous: music that never grows old, and audiophile excellence throughout to enhance the power of sound: „Lady In Satin“ was a favourite Billie Holiday album for Robert Wyatt, and „Blues In Orbit“ is a classic in Duke Ellington‘s broad discography – the background story of this night session was once brought to new life from Julio Cortazar in a wonderful short story. Numün‘s „Book of Beyond“ comes from the new old strain of American Ambient with a touch of Oregon (the band), and Jon Hassell‘s „Living City“ (another fantastic sounding set) mixes Hassell‘s urban dreamscapes, in passages, with the wilderness of the Brasilian jungle. One word about the sound quality of the recordings: apart from being a very good pressing, these vinyl editions of the two Hassell albums are magnificent, soundwise – the details, the sound stage, the horizon: 10 of 10, and no degree less than the excellent Analogue Production remasters of Ellington and Holiday. The sound and the mood (transported) are so, sorry for the word, immersive that there will be people who start loving Hassell here, with these albums, by the power of sound only. No doubts about it, one night music that would make this meeting of spirits close to perfect: „Charlie Parker plays Bossa Nova“ (Riverside 23-4211).
