Dan Whalen is a mad scientist of comfort food. Dan’s recipe takes a full-sized cheeseburger, stuffs it into a ravioli and calls it dinner. Another puts pineapple and bacon into jalapeno peppers to create a tasty, flavorful appetizer. With every recipe so fun and different, you’ll be able to make dishes that your family and friends have truly never seen before.

Dan is the fucking genius behind the popular blog, The Food in My Beard. During my stay in Boston I found some of his recipes in the Huffington Post. One was a, let’s say, controversial success: a great amount of blueberries (two pounds), mixed with marinated sardines, lots of Kurkuma and red lentils,  all pushed through a mixer and then cooked in an oven with  old Cheddar cheese.

Recipes in the book  include Cheesesteak Stuffed Soft Pretzel Calzones, Chicken Stuffed Waffles, Cheddar Sriracha Stuffed Mushrooms and Cherry Pie Stuffed Chocolate Cake, so get ready to take the best comfort foods and stuff them with even more awesome flavor. It’s a book and concept that is highly evaluated in psychotherapy (esp. „Provocative Therapy“) to break old habits and open up new territories of experience. The only rule: if you don’t love from the start, throw it away immediately.

Gestern war um 18:20 Uhr im SWR das Hörspiel Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge nach dem gleichnamigen Roman von Rainer Maria Rilke zu hören. Dass die Musik von Thomas Weber – Kammerflimmer-Kollektiv – komponiert wurde, wäre doch ein Grund mehr dafür, es sich einmal anzuhören (noch bis Samstag auf der SWR-Hörspiel-Mediathek).

Der SWR schreibt dazu:

Rilkes „Brigge“, bereits 1910 erschienen, gilt heute neben Prousts Recherche und Joyces Ulysses als Wegbereiter des modernen Romans. Sein Thema: die Entwurzelung des Subjekts und seine Rettungsversuche nicht zuletzt durch die Kunst in einer aus den Fugen geratenen Zeit. Die Erfahrung der Pariser Großstadt um die Jahrhundertwende dient dabei als Spiegel für eine Ästhetik des Hässlichen, der Krankheit und des Todes. Es gibt hier keine Handlung noch einen klassischen Erzähler: In der Form eines Tagebuches reiht sich assoziativ verknüpft eine Folge von Prosadichtungen, die zwischen Erinnerung, Beschreibung, Erzählung und Reflexion stehen. Aus ihnen schält sich schattenhaft die Figur eines 28-jährigen Dänen. Als letzter Spross eines alten Adelsgeschlechts versucht er, heimat- wie besitzlos, in Paris seine Existenz als Dichter zu begründen. Die Hörspielfassung arbeitet bewusst mit einem hohen Kürzungsfaktor. Im Zentrum stehen die Stadterfahrung und das sich in Sprache und Form auflösende Ich als Signatur moderner Erfahrung.

The book is going to start with its bilingual concept meaning 85/90: 10 (German vs. English). So, in this moment in time we’re nine from ten, one still thinking. To reduce the probability of failure (if we fail, then we’ll do it within a short amount of time), the first chapter will be our holographic test for the whole thing. The process can be read in the 3-part-excursion to a rainy part of Great Britain. Posted two days ago. So, the working title now is slightly more low key: „Ego Dumping in the Outer Hebrides – Das Buch der Manafonisten“. At least two or three Manafonistas will set their sails and dump their egos in that Northern wilderness.
