Wie ich eben lese, ist gestern der Gitarrist Sam Andrew an den Folgen einer Herz-OP verstorben. Vor ungefähr 15 Jahren gab es auf einer Mailingliste über Jefferson Airplane, der ich folgte, einen Thread über Janis Joplin, und ich hatte dazu irgendetwas gesagt. Daraus ergab sich ein ziemlich langer Offlist-Email-Tratsch mit einem gewissen Sam über Janis. Da er immer nur mit „Sam“ zeichnete, wusste ich zunächst gar nicht, mit wem ich es zu tun hatte. Erst nach einigen Tagen, als ich das „bbhc.com“ in seiner Email-Adresse kapiert hatte („Big Brother & The Holding Company“), dämmerte mir plötzlich, dass ich mit einem von Janis‘ engsten Freunden sprach. Ich habe das nie vergessen.
