Tony Hillerman, Craig Johnson und William Kent Krueger geben in vielen ihrer Romane, die manche auch „Thriller“ nennen, den Indianern eine Stimme, ihrem Leben in den Reservaten, ihrer Mythologie. So lese ich gerade, als Einstimmung auf unser „zweites spannende Parallellesen“ des jüngsten, preisgekrönten Romans ORDINARY GRACE von W. K. Krueger, seinen ersten Roman mit der vielschichtgen Figur Corcoran O’Connor, der halb irischer, halb indianischer Abstammung ist, und seinen Lebensmittelpunkt im oft gruselig kalten Minnesota hat. Sein neues Buch ist ein „stand alone“, und erzählt eine ganz eigene Geschichte ohne vertraute Figuren. Ich habe bei diesem mir bislang unbekannten Autor ein gutes Gefühl. Denn ich erlebe hier bislang (page 145) einen überzeugenden psychologischen Realismus, ein feines Gespür für „mystery“ (ohne krause Überdrehtheiten), und eine Lust, Geschichten in aller Ruhe (dabei frei von jeder Langatmigkeit) zu entwickeln, und ohne von „cliffhanger“ zu „cliffhanger“ zu eilen.
