Klaus Kreuzeder 1950-2014

von: Jan Reetze Filed under: Blog | TB | 2 Comments

Sad news: Saxophonist Klaus Kreuzeder passed away yesterday at his home in Munich at the age of 64. Apparently he suffered from a post polio syndrome and had to give up playing sax in 2013.

I heard him a couple of times live on stage with Eberhard Schoener and with his band Aera as supporting act for Steve Hillage.

What a loss. May he rest in peace.

Nearly forgotten: Aera, the name of his band. I saw him playing – in the 70’s‘ – in his wheelchair (soprano saxophone?) in the „Falkenzentrum“, Würzburg, supporting, i suppose, another one long gone: Zbginef Seiffert, violin solo.

Reminds me to put the Eberhard Schoener LP „Bon Voyage“ soon again onto the record player and listen to the vinyl — especially the title track which takes up a whole LP side and features Kreuzeder in full blast !
