„Originally conceived as a bit of fun, Magical Mystery Tour presented an hour-long disruption of TV norms. Despite having a cross-generational cast, it was definitely from within youth consciousness, which was becoming more and more radical thanks to LSD and the developing counter-culture. With its non-linear structure, jump-cuts and promo videos, it offered a portal into the future, just when many people wanted to celebrate the past. Whether deliberately or not, it widened the generation gap.“

„In autumn 1967 (…) The Beatles represented a new kind of person, playful and colourful – which is the way people would like to live now, partly thanks to their example. This jump-cut into the future might have not set well in the schedule for Christmas 1967, but in 2012 it looks fantastic – as though it was made yesterday. MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR is a film that has found its time.“
