Legal question, serious answer: it´s a double neck guitar.
Here the upper neck has 12 strings, the lower one 6. There are other versions, for instance with a fretless neck (David Fiuzcinski) or take Pat Metheny and his „Picasso“ guitar. Famous players in ancient times ;) were John McLaughlin (Mahavishnu Orchestra) and Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin).

Oh, es scheint doch eine nahezu unverzeihliche Wissenslücke zu sein :(
Dabei verbinde ich doch Pat Metheny mit einem wundersam abgelegenen Ferienhaus in Irland, denn dort entdeckte ich vor ein paar Jahren im Sommer einige seiner Alben.
