on life, music etc beyond mainstream

Former Cocteau Twins member Robin Guthrie and Harold Budd have been busy writing and recording a movie soundtrack for the — as blogs.indiewire.com puts it — „carefully calibrated“ film „White Bird in a Blizzard.“

Quote : The musical duo first paired up to score Araki’s „Mysterious Skin“ and also released a pair of albums together. And together they return for ‚Blizzard,‘ and the results are pretty gorgeous. (…) And even if most of the tracks see Guthrie and Budd working separately, it still feels like there’s a unified vision behind the songs.

(..) The soundtrack will be available via Lakeshore Records digitally on September 23rd, with a CD release to follow this fall.“

There’s actually three Budd/Guthrie albums beyond the existing soundtrack one –

    After The Night Falls
    Before The Day Breaks
    Bordeaux

Bordeaux is unmissable, all of its tracks are in my most played on LastFM, with between 800 and 1100 plays for each. What can I say? It’s an addictive sound :)
