Discoveries never stop😉 I just know three of these albums, Mr. rofigan probably all – and, oh Rastafari, Joe Higgs‘s Life Of Contradiction is so, so great. You can see the wonderful Mr. Higgs play on that DVD with the Bob Marley Capitol Sessions – a wonderful concert.
Sehr spannende Liste – ich kenne fast nix. Love Thy Neighhbor ist mir nur von Yabby You bekannt, dann noch Niney, das wars.
Das ist was für uns, Olaf, woll?! Neben Joe Higgs kenne ich die angegebenen Scheiben von Ras Michael und Domino Hind oder Hinds.
Ich will nucht die Aufmerksamkeit von den anderen ablenken, aber Higgs‘ Album hat mich bei der reissue 2008 umgehauen. Popmatters damals dazu:
Plenty of die hard reggae fans will never have heard of Joe Higgs but he taught the original Wailers some moves and arguably influenced the course of reggae music. This 1972 album originally belonged to Island Records, but Chris Blackwell deemed it not right for UK release and it took three years for him to give the rights to Higgs. Maybe Blackwell was right (his detractors should read Joe Boyd’s fabulous book White Bicycles) because this re-mastered album sounds incredibly good in the cluttered, flashy landscape of 2008. The powerful melodies, bone-dry arrangements, and absence of any guitar solos, synthesized sounds, dubs or studio effects, all create a feel as natural as wood. Clear echoes of gospel, blues, and soul music are audible but nothing is overcooked..
Das Doofe: ich habe die Cd damals auf etliche Reisen mitgenommen, und verloren. Heute habe ich nur noch die Hülle, und Erinnerungen. Und, nein, ich höre sie mir nicht im Netz an. Irgendwann finde ich das Teil wieder… oder sie erscheint auf Vinyl:)

65 Euro bei Discogs für das Vinyl von Noel Ellis (Light in the Attic remaster, 2016) … du hast das Teil bestimmt, und ich will das unbedingt hören, wenn ich in HH vorbeischaue. Klingt schon auf youtube gut, das ganze Album. Noel Ellis. Nie gehört, mhmmm…
