Hello, it´s me

Sometimes it takes a week to come up with the idea of making a simple phone call. In the room with the record player are four boys. On the other side of the line are four girls in trouble. (Originally they were five sisters, between 13 and 17 years old.) They are no longer allowed to listen to music. And that’s just one thing they’re not allowed to do. Their parents won´t even let them leave the house. What is the title of the film? Who is the filmmaker? The question for extra points: Did music save them?

    Ich kenne mich nur mit telefonierenden Pferden aus. Hard stuff. Hier geht es endlich mal um Entwicklungspsychologie und (Schwarze) Pädagogik – und ich muss passen. Die Bonuspunkte nehme ich mit: Music DID save them.

    Da fällt mir doch gerade noch die Trapp-Familie ein. Die Kinderzahl passt in etwa; und Rock’n’roll war sicher tabu.

    Well, well, tough guess. Music saved them only for the moment of listening.

    Maybe the team needs some more bits of information. The story is settled in the 1970s in Michigan, but the film was released in 1999. The film was a debut feature.

    Das ausgewählte Foto ist ein Ausschnitt aus einem Filmbild. Der Film ist von einer Regisseurin, deren Vater nicht weniger berühmt ist als sie. Ihr alle kennt mindestens einen Film der Regisseurin, dessen Titel eine Art bonmot geworden ist.

    Yep!

    (Maybe the boys could have saved them. Actually I think it would have been too late for that at the time of the music transmission by telephone.)
