Sidsel Endresen is the most expressive female voice in modern music since Meredith Monk, and guitarist Stian Westerhus is playing with fire extending the vocabulary of his fucking old electric guitar with a grim smile on his face.     Interval Signals is a great album from Thomas Koener’s label Denovali Records, but I wanted strictly records from 2014 in my list, and that one is from December 2013:) – and Mike Cooper from old early ’70s. Always good to break non-existing rulres, my friend! Our lady manafonistas give a great lesson in that.

    “ Always good to break non-existing rulres, my friend“, das ist mal ein Satz, lieber Freund! Ich breche immer dann gerne Regeln, wenn die Regeln über der Sache oder über den Menschen stehen. Regeln sollten den Menschen bzw. eben der Sache dienen, hier der Hitparade! Ich gehöre zu den Musikliebhabern, die ihre gewünschte Musik erst mit dem Erscheinungsdatum der LP/CD hören können. Für Interval Signals war das der 13.12.2013. Unsere Listen haben wir aber noch vor dem 6.12. damals abgegeben, sodass später erscheinende Musik bei Otto-Normal-Verbraucher niemals eine Chance hätte. So geschehen jetzt wieder mit der neuen Anouar Brahem-Platte. Ich konnte sie nur einmal hören, die CD kam am Samstag. Jetzt, nach mehrmaligem Hören, müsste die CD in der Liste deutlich höher liegen. Anyway, deshalb habe ich mir erlaubt Interval Signals zu bringen. Bei Mike Cooper ist es so, dass sie 2014 zwar als remastered Version auf den Markt kam, aber für mich vollkommen neu war. Never heard of this! Deshalb habe ich mir erlaubt diese Platte zu bringen (würde es aber z.B. ablehnen, die neu bearbeiteten Led Zeppelin-CDs in die Liste aufzunehmen). Von Mike Cooper sind inzwischen auch noch andere, fast interessantere CDs erschienen, aber die würde ich nicht bringen. Schließlich haben wir eine Regel: wir machen eine Hitparade mit Platten aus dem Jahre 2014.
