„She loves Bowie. She’s helpful in the kitchen. Not my kitchen. Her eyes are legend. She is pure, serious presence, she has a fine humour. She loves Bach, too. She’s a teacher. She is faithful, straight. But likes to look behind corners. Her eyes ring bells, tunes of their own. She’s a stranger I seemed to know well after seconds. Now she’s gone. But I have my pictures, „Pictures of Lily“.“ (Lyrics from the song „The Ringing of Bells“, from the American underground duo Fake & Lover)
Fake & Lover are great in singing lyrics that are not easy to sing. Short phrases, no rhymes, no regular rhythms. But with doubling the vocals and overlapping melodic lines (and some vintage analogue synthesizers) they create a beautiful sing-a-long feel. At the end they use a riff of the old song from The Who.
