„A celebration of sine waves“

von: Michael Engelbrecht Filed under: Blog | TB | Comments off

Paddy McAloon’s solo album is great, a work out of loneliness and illness; he has nearly been blind forever. And you’re right, Ian: these sine waves …

Once upon a time journalist Richard Williams (great guy!) got a promo copy of a new work of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Highly experimental stuff. One side of the two vinyl records was full of sine waves of a certain kind; Richard listened carefully and went enthusiastic in his review. Well, the sine waves were only there to fill up a side of otherwise total emptiness, they were not there to leave „musical impressions“. John Cage would have smiled!
