Archives: Hymn for Hope

this is the forthcoming album of bass player and composer mats eilertsen.  it will be released on november 19, and before that, be premiered in my „klanghorizonte“ radio night, on october 16, and my edition of „jazzfacts“, on november 4. both broadcasted from deutschlandfunk. tore brunborg plays tenor saxophone, thomas t. dahl guitars, and hans hulbiekmo drums and percussion.

by the way, it seems to be a year of great solo bass albums, mats‘ „solitude central“, released january 2021, surely being amongst them. not to forget two other albums he made in recent years, „and then comes the night“ (on ecm), and „reveries and revelations“ (on hubro).

Hi Michael. Good here, despite it all, enjoying the winter and the cold with skiing, keeping myself busy with small things, fex making records! Solo live-performance from Oslo in March 2020 recorded and released now. New, own label „Hemli“ (the solo album will be available on  CD, LP and downloads via Bandcamp.)

Got the chance to develop a solo-set last year when no concerts suddenly was the reality. This is I guess a subtle set, dynamic, delicate, dreamy. Daring? Somehow standing on the shoulders of the work I did with my release Reveries and Revelations, but this time all live, in the moment, Subtle effects and acoustic bass over it. good and hopeful greetings for the coming months for us all!  (mail from mats, january 2021)
